Riding METS Buses
If you are new to our bus system, here are several things you should know before making your trip.

Bus stops |

|
|
For your convenience, METS has installed bus stop signs along all routes that indicate where you can board the bus. (In the downtown area, buses will stop at any corner.) As the bus approaches, make certain that the operator can see you. Also, since there may be other people standing by the stop who do not want to ride the bus, be sure to wave at the bus as it approaches. Flagging eliminates unnecessary stops and guarantees you faster, more efficient service. So wave, ride, and relax. |

Catching the right bus

Boarding the bus When you board the bus, please have exact fare ready. METS operators carry no change or tokens, so they will not be able to make change for you. If you need a transfer, ask the operator as you are paying your fare. Remember, a transfer is good only for continuing a single trip. During winter, or during rainy weather, please be sure to check the steps for water, snow or ice and hold the handrail as you enter the bus. |

Exiting the bus Let your operator know your destination to get off one block ahead by pulling the cord or touching the yellow “touch” tape above and between the windows. Exit from the rear door whenever possible, as new riders will be entering through the front door. You and they will have an easier time. As you exit, do not cross the street in front of the bus. Wait until the bus leaves the stop. |

Lost & Found
If you lose an item on a bus or at a transfer point, call METS between 5:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Monday - Friday to see if it has been returned. If you find an item, give it to your METS bus operator, and it will be turned in to our Lost & Found at the office. All items are held for 30 days and can be identified and claimed within that time at the METS office at 601 John Street.
